Who & what are they?

PermiServ provides garden waste permit printing and permit management software for local authorities, taking on the administrative burden so councils can deliver efficient and reliable garden waste collection services to residents.

The Goal

  • To refresh the brand in order to better reflect PermiServ’s offer and USPs, including the development of a new logo and brand tone of voice
  • To design and build a new website in line with the refreshed branding:
    • To showcase PermiServ’s products and services
    • To improve user experience (UX)
    • To minimise loss of traffic during the site migration and maintain high search engine rankings to avoid loss of revenue
  • To create relevant, useful and interesting content for the website and social media, ensuring all website content was SEO-friendly and that social media content was engaging and reaching the desired target audiences

What we did

We worked closely with PermiServ on a comprehensive rebrand, producing a selection of new logo designs for the client to choose their preferred version, delivering a brand tone of voice workshop, and devising a new strapline for the business that encapsulated their ethos: ‘Consider It Done’.

Once the refreshed logo and other brand assets were agreed, we designed the new website with the aim of making it easy to navigate, visually appealing, and consistent with the updated brand identity. The website redesign involved the following actions:

  • Extensive planning, including ongoing collaboration with the client and thorought research into the industry landscape and local authorities
  • Creation of new content to improve the customer journey and to provide an informative experience
  • Regular meetings and updates to ensure a smooth transition with no disruption to services

The detail

The new website build began with thorough planning and preparation regarding design, content and UX to ensure the result met expectations and did the job it was meant to. We then carried out an in-depth analysis including a full site audit, server performance, position tracking, URL mapping of existing pages and content backup. A detailed site migration plan was then drawn up, ensuring all parties had a clear timeline of events and actions to work to.

The site migration itself involved meticulous preparation work, involving thorough discussions between the client, Tiger Marketing and third parties to ensure all areas of the migration would be covered.

Comprehensive pre-launch testing of the new website reviewed the UX and navigation, and ensured all contact forms and emails provided an effective customer journey. We confirmed tracking was set up correctly, priority URLs were indexed and backlinks were updated. New search engine optimisation (SEO) content was added and updated, including meta titles, page introductions, H tags and product information.

All marketing channels were utilised to update customers about the new website including social media and email. Once the new site was live, we continued to monitor position tracking, traffic, redirects and analytics to ensure the migration ran as efficiently as possible.

The Results

The website refresh had a significant impact on organic traffic levels when we compared the period 1st June 2023 – 1st June 2024 to the same date range of the previous year:

  • A 387% increase in clicks to the site from organic search
  • Impressions increased by 272%
  • Click through rate (CTR) increased by 7.95%

We saw an improvement to organic ranking for the keywords we tracked. Adding keywords to our website constructively, along with other technical updates, was the key driver of our increase in rankings. We reached the top ten positions in Google for the following keywords:

  • Garden waste permit printing
  • Permit printing
  • In-cab technology
